League of Legends was created after the founders of Riot Games wanted to create a stand-alone game based off of a custom Warcraft III map called Defense of the Ancients.

The game holds a loyal and massive fanbase, with over 150 million active players joining in to battle it out each month. There’s even a highly reviewed Netflix show centered around League of Legends, titled Arcane. But can you play League of Legends on Steam?

About League of Legends

League of Legends is a multiplayer online battle arena game, or MOBA, similar to Dota and Dota 2. Players battle opponents using champions, and there are over 140 to choose from, so you’re bound to find something that suits your play style. You’ll have to team up and work together to defeat rival teams and rise to the top.

During the battle, two 5-player teams are put into an arena that has three lanes. Each lane produces minions that head down the lane until clashing with enemy minions in the middle. There are 3 towers and one inhibitor, which leads to the team’s base, in each lane for each team.

Inside the base, there’s a single Nexus which is protected by two more towers. To win, players and their team must destroy the opposing team’s Nexus or cause them to surrender. There are several game modes, tons of champions, and a competitive ranking system that has all players coming back for more.
