Escape from Tarkov is a tactical first-person shooter with immense multiplayer maps. The game is currently in development by Russian game developer Battlestate Games based out of St. Petersburg, but is there a way to play Escape from Tarkov on Steam?
Described as hardcore and incredibly realistic, Escape from Tarkov was first released in August 2016 as a closed alpha game. It’s currently in a closed aeta which began in July 2017. As for a full release of Escape from Tarkov, Nikita Buyanov, the game’s director, has mentioned that it’s close to a complete release on episodes of TarkovTV.
Escape from Tarkov is very popular and is currently the 5th most watched FPS game on Twitch. Unfortunately for Steam users, it isn’t available on the platform and can only be purchased through the official Escape from Tarkov website. With that being said, it’s still possible to play Escape from Tarkov on Steam, and all you need to do is follow the steps below.
Adding Escape from Tarkov to Steam
It’s really easy to add non-Steam games to the popular digital video game distribution service, and that includes Escape from Tarkov. Make sure that you have Escape from Tarkov downloaded and then follow these steps.
– The first thing you’ll need to do is open up Steam.
– Once in, click on “+ Add A Game” in the bottom-left corner of the window, or select Games in the top left.
– From the options that pop up, select “Add a Non-Steam Game”, which will open a new window.
– This window lists non-Steam content that you can choose to add to your library. If you don’t see Escape from Tarkov in the list, select “Browse” to open your PC’s File Explorer. Here, you can search for Escape from Tarkov.
– Once you’ve found the game, select it by checking the box next to its title. Then, click “Add Selected Programs”.
Escape from Tarkov will now be included in your Steam library, and you’ll be able to open the game from Steam and show your Steam friends when you’re playing.

Escape from Tarkov is a multiplayer FPS currently available on PC and is set in the fictional Norvinsk region. There’s a war raging between two private military companies, BEAR and USEC, and players can choose which company they’ll be a soldier for.
Gamers can join matches solo or team up with friends to loot, shoot, and survive as they try to win the game. To do this, you and your team must escape from the city alive. Matches are session-based and full of human players and AI Scavs, which are the residents of Tarkov, ensuring that danger lurks around every corner and nowhere is safe.
To make things even more dreadful, the only loot you’ll be able to keep is what you make it out of the extraction zone with. If you end up dying, you’ll lose all of the loot you have on you. Escape from Tarkov is extremely challenging and definitely not for the faint of heart.
