All The News From X019 In London: Everwild, Grounded, Halo: Reach & More

Plenty of big announcements.

X019

Xbox held X019 in London tonight, with a rammed Inside Xbox episode packed with game reveals, announcements and a host of new information. Let’s not waste any more of your time, and break down the biggest news from X019.

Rare Announce New Title Everwild

Sorry, Banjo-Kazooie fans, but Rare aren’t working on a new game in that series. You’ll have to settle for their appearance in Smash Bros. Anyway, Rare announced they’re working on a brand new IP called Everwild. Nothing was really revealed about the game aside from the above trailer, but it looks absolutely lovely.

Obsidian Reveal New IP Grounded

Another brand new game from an Xbox Game Studios developer, Obsidian revealed Grounded, a multiplayer survival game where players are shrunk down have to contend with regular sized insects like ants and other creepy crawlies. There’s also big spiders, so this game can piss off as far as I’m concerned.

Grounded will be an Xbox “exclusive”, so it’ll be available on PC as well, and will launch as part of the Xbox Insider program first, before joining Xbox Game Preview and Xbox Game Pass in 2020. Looks pretty interesting, if you’re down with the whole survival genre.

West of Dead Announced, Open Beta Available Now

Beautiful cel-shading? Check. Supernatural wild western environment? Check. Ron Perlman providing the voice-overs? Oh, you better believe that’s a check. Out of nowhere, West of Dead has pinged on my radar, and with the open beta now available on Xbox One, I’m looking forward to seeing if the game lives up to the hype I’ve built up in my head.

Rust Coming To Xbox One In 2020

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=voCNgIkQSfw

Hooray, more penises on my Xbox! The survival phenomenon Rust will be making its way to the Xbox One and PS4 in 2020, proving that if you encounter a stranger online, you probably shouldn’t trust them.

KartRider: Drift Announced For Xbox One

It’s a free-to-play kart racer that’s focused on customisation. For more details, here’s a news post about the game, including information about the game’s closed beta.

Bleeding Edge Launching March 24th

Ninja Theory’s 4v4 multiplayer brawler Bleeding Edge is coming to Xbox One and PC on March 24th as part of Xbox Game Pass, with pre-orders available right now. There’s a technical alpha available right now, so if you want to get involved, you can sign-up on the official website.

Planet Coaster Coming To Consoles

The first piece of news that actually got a fist pump out of me, Planet Coaster will finally be making its way to the Xbox One and PS4, allowing players to create the theme park of their dreams. Personally, I’ll be making a bunch of go-kart tracks manned by the Gulpee dinosaur mascot, but you do you. Planet Coaster: Console Edition will launch in Summer 2020.

Dontnod Entertainment Reveal Tell Me Why

DONTNOD Entertainment have become known for their stellar narrative games, and Tell Me Why looks set to be another stand-out for the studio. The game will be coming to Xbox One and PC, with “all chapters” launching in Summer 2020. The story itself will focus on the bond between twins Tyler and Alyson as they remember their childhood.

Far from being the opening prompt to start singing Backstreet Boys, Tell Me Why is the first game from a major studio to feature a transgender main character, as Tyler attempts to come to terms with his identity as a transgender man. DONTNOD have worked alongside GLAAD’s Nick Adams, the director of transgender representation, to ensure that the trans representation hits the right notes, and isn’t simply a collection of tropes and stereotypes. Considering DONTNOD’s pedigree of telling excellent stories in gaming, Tell Me Why could be truly great.

The Artful Escape Looks Like A Rock Version Of Sayonara Wild Hearts

Just watch the trailer. Enough said.

Project xCloud Coming To Windows 10 PCs In 2020

xCloud

Microsoft announced that they’ll be bringing Project xCloud to Windows 10 PCs in 2020, meaning you should find new ways to procrastinate to do work, with plans to support more devices. xCloud will also support multiple controllers, including the Dualshock 4, which is a fantastic move. The xCloud Preview will also extend to Canada, Western Europe, Japan and India. Electronic Arts will also be fully supporting Project xCloud, with games like Madden NFL 20 joining the xCloud Preview. More EA games will be added in due course. Xbox Game Pass subscribers will also be given full access to xCloud’s game streaming capabilities.

Yakuza Is Coming To The Xbox One

Okay, just breathe Ash. Act like a normal human being.

The acclaimed Yakuza series is coming to the Xbox One, with Yakuza Zero, Kiwami and Kiwami 2 launching in early 2020 and coming to Xbox Game Pass. Hopefully, the rest of the series will be making its way to the Xbox One in due time, but this is amazing news for anyone who hasn’t experienced this wonderful series before.

Halo: Reach Launching On PC And Xbox One On December 3rd

We’ve been waiting forever for the 4K version of Halo: Reach to launch properly on PC and Xbox One, and now we have a release date. Halo: Reach will be launching as part of the Halo: The Master Chief Collection on December 3rd, and will be available as part of Xbox Game Pass.

Age Of Empires 4 Showcased

It was teased before the event, but Age of Empires 4 was showcased during X019. The new gameplay trailer revealed the game’s Medieval setting, along with two of the factions in the game: the English and the Mongols. Relic Entertainment are also forming a new developer’s team, World’s Edge, focused entirely on the Age of Empires series.

Crossfire X Gameplay Trailer Revealed

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNZyNNCmO-c

With “X Gon’ Give It To You” playing in the background, Smilegate revealed a new gameplay trailer for the free-to-play tactical shooter Crossfire X. It looks pretty good, actually. It’s probably going to be better than Warface, let’s be honest.

Last Stop Revealed, Looks Weird But Interesting

Be honest with me. Watch the trailer for Last Stop and try to explain to me what the hell is going on. I have no idea, but it looks pretty cool. Check it out.

Minecraft: Dungeons Launching In April 2020

The dungeon crawling spin-off to the phenomenon Minecraft, the aptly titled Minecraft: Dungeons, will be launching in April 2020. The hosts showcased some brand new gameplay for the title, particularly its co-op features, and it looks like a lot of fun. Definitely one to keep an eye on in 2020, along with all the other games.

Final Fantasy Games Will Be Coming To Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Kingdom Hearts Games Coming To Xbox As Well

Final Fantasy

Pretty much every single Final Fantasy title will be making its way to Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass for PC from 2020. Also, Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD, 2.5 HD and 2.8 will be available on Xbox platforms for the first time. Big news from Square Enix at X019. No news about Final Fantasy 7 Remake though, but we’ll wait and see. If Yakuza can be available on the Xbox, anything can happen.

New Xbox Game Pass Titles Announced

The line-up includes Rage 2, The Tales Principle, Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition and more available now, while titles like The Witcher 3, Darksiders 3, the aforementioned Halo: Reach and My Friend Pedro for console and PC. Apparently My Friend Pedro is coming to the Xbox One. Bit of a stealth announcement, that one. Check out the video above for the full list of games coming in the next couple of months. Oh, and you can get 3 months of Game Pass Ultimate for $1, and it’ll include 3 months of Discord Nitro.

New Trailer Revealed For Wasteland 3, May 19th Release Date

This cover of Land of Confusion is pretty good, but that’s not the point. The new trailer showcases the issues plaguing the post-apocalyptic version of Colarado, as the children of the Patriarch lay waste to those few who survive in the frozen wastes. Also revealed was the game’s May 19th release date, which might just annoy WWE wrestler Kane. Bit of a dated reference for you there.

And that’s all the big news from X019. What was your favourite announcement? Let us know in the comments below.
