ADR1FT: A Look Into the Final Frontier

ADr1ft

One thing that never seems to get old are games set in space. Look at Freelancer, Elite & Dangerous, Homeworld, the upcoming No Man’s Sky. Even films seem to just keep on winning when it comes to setting stories in space Gravity, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Apollo 13 not to mention Star Trek and Star Wars amongst others.

Threeonezero’s pending release ADR1FT sets us in the vast emptiness of space as the sole survivor amongst the wreckage of a destroyed space station. Your objective is to “stay alive by exploring the wreckage for precious resources, and overcomes the challenges of an unforgiving environment to repair the damaged EEV and safely return home”.

Whilst this will be a welcome respite from FIFA 16 and the new Call of Duty, it pits us against a new raft of challenges where oxygen is not just a given. In this game. physics takes a backseat role as you try to piece together why your only home in the cosmos disintegrated before your very eyes.

Just looking at the trailer makes you want to open the window and suck down air with abandon.

It being a first person experience only seems to enhance the feel you get throughout the play-through videos and trailers, you are very much on your own in the infinite void.

If there is one game I urge you to look into further it is this one as it gives you a different kind of challenge, one in which you don’t just have find out what happened to the space station you were working on but you have to ensure your safe return home. Oh, and don’t forget to refill your oxygen tanks as you may need them.
