Apparently because Western filmmakers just don’t learn their lesson about adaptations, James Wan has signed on to produce an American remake of Train To Busan: the Korean horror often lauded as one of the best modern zombie movies.
The mind behind The Conjuring is teaming up with his fellow Conjuring spooky lad Gary Dauberman, who will be helping to pen the script; Dauberman’s most recent credit is for his work on The Nun. New Line will be overseeing the project after winning a bidding war against other studios.
The news shouldn’t come as a surprise, especially in this era when anything novel can’t just be left alone. Train To Busan didn’t reinvent the saturated genre, but it gave it a breath of life by featuring characters worth caring about and a pace that didn’t let up. It’s going to be hard to care when Patrick Wilson (inevitably) takes over Gong Yoo’s role and the train becomes haunted.
They’re remaking TRAIN TO BUSAN? Good luck. The original is perfect. And just *try* to find someone cooler than this fellow. pic.twitter.com/4WjOdOPWh7

Still, we can only wait and see. They might surprise us, even if it becomes Train To Long Island. If you’re yet to watch the original, the 2016 movie is currently on Netflix an–why are they remaking this again?
