Today marks the first birthday of Fortnite since it launched as an Early Access title focused purely on PVE. It hit the heights with its Battle Royale mode, but today it’s hit a small low: the Birthday Challenges aren’t working as intended.
Some players are able to interact with the birthday cake slices dotted around the map but they aren’t contributing towards the challenge. Players must tick off all challenges if they want to unlock the unique cosmetics associated with the game’s birthday.
Noticing that players have been having issues with the Birthday Challenges, Epic confirmed that they were looking into it while quickly following up to announce that they will be fixed for the store refresh.
We are aware of some players unable to access Birthday Challenges, they are currently being deployed to everyone!

It looks like the Birthday Challenges are late to the party for some Battle Royale players.
They'll arrive when the Store refreshes at 8pm Eastern Time (0000 GMT)

This might be a nuisance to some, but the challenges actually stretch on way past today so there’s no huge rush. If you log in to Fortnite right now, the Battle Bus is adorned with birthday decorations and you can find many birthday cakes across the map’s many named locations.
