Yesterday on Twitter, Christofer Sundberg of Avalanche Studios began teasing a new game that the studio would be self-publishing. Today, they’ve officially unveiled Generation Zero, a new co-op shooter coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Taking place in open world version of 1980’s Sweden, you and up to three friends need to survive a hostile machine uprising that has brought chaos to the countryside. In order to defeat the enemies, you’ll have to utilise guerrilla tactics in order to succeed. No wandering into enemy territory blindly firing a machine gun and hoping for the best here.
The official website, which has launched today, gives more details about what players can expect in the full game. Interestingly, it says that every enemy will be “persistently simulated” in the world, and that damage will be permanent. It’s a cool concept to think about, and has a lot of potential going forward. The idea of taking a robot’s eye during an early game fight only for them to return later on as a nemesis is tantalising.
Generation Zero will be launching on PS4, Xbox One and PC next year. What are your thoughts about the game? Sound off in the comments below, and watch the trailer too.
