After Brooklyn Nine-Nine was culled as part of a ritual at Fox to appease Set, the internet had an outpouring of love for the cop procedural comedy with thousands of messages of support on social media for the show.
It should come as no surprise, then, that the show has been resurrected for a sixth season. NBC has picked the comedy up again after having sold it to Fox to begin with, which they admitted was a mistake.
Speaking in a statement, NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt said the following:
“Ever since we sold this show to Fox I’ve regretted letting it get away, and it’s high time it came back to its rightful home. Mike Schur, Dan Goor, and Andy Samberg grew up on NBC and we’re all thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest, and best cast comedies in a long time will take its place in our comedy line-up. I speak for everyone at NBC, here’s to the Nine-Nine!”

After running for five seasons, Brooklyn Nine-Nine has established a dedicated following for blending off-kilter messages and important, uncompromising themes such as police corruption, racism, and why Wuntch time is over. Its most recent episode, which I won’t spoil for anyone who hasn’t watched it yet, was the series at its best, so it’s great that they now have a chance to top that.
Meanwhile, The Mick and The Last Man on Earth are still dead. The latter needs some kind of resolution for its fans after a gigantic cliffhanger, so it might be time for some more social campaigning.
The sixth season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine does not yet have a concrete air date, but it will air during the 2018-2019 season. Toight.
