Thor: Ragnarok’s Korg Gets His Own Poster

Even though it was released several weeks ago, Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi took to Twitter to reveal a new character poster for Korg, a character he played in the film through motion capture. As you can see below, the poster also utilizes the 1980s disco-style aesthetic that was featured in the movie to such great effect.

Although he was first introduced as a member of the silicon-based alien species known as Kronans back in Journey into Mystery #83, Korg was not identified by name until the 2006 Planet Hulk storyline (which served as the basis for Thor: Ragnarok’s Sakaar scenes).

Waititi, who previously co-directed the vampire horror comedy What We Do in the Shadows, received critical praise for his comedic portrayal of Korg, particularly for his humorous interactions with his insectoid companion Miek. The New Zealand director also recently tweeted a slight shade at Justice League, although he did clarify that he was just as excited to see the DC extravaganza as everyone else. I guess friendly rivalry still exists.

Thor: Ragnarok has currently earned a worldwide total of $745,149,643, making it by far the highest-grossing of the Thor trilogy. And we don’t have long to wait for the God of Thunder to return to our screens, as Thor will be a major player in next year’s Avengers: Infinity War.
