The truest friendship between two of the kindest entities in the world has just been created: the walking ego formerly known as Diego Maradona and Konami.
After taking Konami to court over his unlicensed (barely similar) likeness being used for PES 2017, the two parties came to an out-of-court settlement, according to El Eco.

From there, Maradona signed on to become an ambassador for the Pro Evolution Soccer franchise until 2020 coupled with the settlement fee paid by Konami. Sensing trouble at the time of the lawsuit, Konami Digital president Takayuki Kubo travelled to Argentina to go over the lawsuit with Maradona.
Maradona has said that part of the fee he receives from Konami will go towards building grassroots football in his native Argentina.
Meanwhile, PES fans are planning to sue Konami for playing that one Justin Bieber song over and over again in the game’s menus.
