Marvel’s Most Wanted Announced as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D Spin-Off

Another week, another move by Marvel Studios in its secret plan to control our eyeballs (and presumably take over the world). With the success of its comic book TV shows Marvel have now let slip plans for yet another small screen outing.

According to Variety, the show will centre around Agents of SHIELD characters Mockingbird and Lance Hunter. The show will be made for Marvel and ABC Studios and will presumably air on US channel ABC along with SHIELD and Agent Carter.

A similar show was proposed earlier this year, but was shelved by ABC. The new series, which Variety says will be called Marvel’s Most Wanted, may not be with us for a while however. Both Mockingbird and Lance Hunter are set to return for Agents of SHIELD season three.

For those trying to keep track of Marvel’s creeping TV empire here’s a quick refresher. Along with Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter on ABC, Marvel recently released a 13 episode Daredevil series on Netflix. This is just its first show for the streaming service though, with Marvel’s Jessica Jones hitting later this year and a series for Luke Cage and Iron Fist somewhere down the line.

Add to that a mysterious TV project by Oscar winning screenwriter John Ridley (12 Years a Slave) and I think you’ll agree there’s some James Bond villain type plot going on here.

Variety are reporting that Marvel’s Most Wanted will not be a spin-off. Instead it will be “an entirely new project” following two existing characters from Agents of SHIELD, which sounds a whole lot like a spin-off to us. Who are we to question Marvel though? They always seem to be one step ahead of everyone else, and we are lowly internet grease monkeys.
