Sker Ritual Brings Spills, Chills, Co-Op Shooter Thrills

The 'spiritual successor' to 2020’s Maid of Sker lets you face your fears with friends.

Developer and Publisher Wales Interactive has announced their new title, Sker Ritual, a four-player cooperative survival first-person shooter, and follow-up to 2020’s survival horror title Maid of Sker.

The description on the game’s Steam page reads as follows: “The co-op survival first-person shooter and spiritual successor to the award-winning occult horror, Maid of Sker. Play solo or up to four players to survive the supernatural onslaught of the Quiet Ones.”

Wales Interactive’s announcement includes a 15-second teaser trailer that gives us a brief glimpse of the various gaunt, grotesque monstrosities that you and your friends can look forward to shooting in the face when Sker Ritual launches next year.

Maid of Sker was a very atmospheric horror experience, emphasizing stealth as players tried to avoid being attacked by blind enemies with hyper-sensitive hearing called the Quiet Ones, who are sticking around in Sker Ritual, though keeping quiet seems less of a concern in Sker Ritual’s trailer. It’s also unclear, beyond the continued presence of the Quiet Ones, how much narrative connection Maid of Sker will have to this ‘spiritual successor’ and how the prominent shift in genre and gameplay will affect the previous entry’s survival horror elements.

Sker Ritual will launch on PC mid-2022, and PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S at a later date.
