‘Do you feel lost? Do you feel trapped in your own body? Do you feel invisible to those around you? Are you overwhelmed by work, money, fear, life, and love? Is it all just too much to handle?’ If so, then do we have the SINGLE OF THE WEEK for you this week, and yes, it’s late but we all get a little bit of the above from time to time and schedules can go out the window. Where most things go out of in these sorts of situation. However, this week’s SINGLE OF THE WEEK and I come bearing Triominoes. No, wait, not that – something better. You see;
‘If you long to shine brighter than this world allows? Today is your lucky day, happiness is just around the corner.’ So is the promise given ahead of ‘Too Much To Handle’, the latest single from Brooklyn-based electro/indie pop types Jon Sandler and Luke Moellman, otherwise known as Great Good Fine OK. The song is a taster of their up and coming EP 2M2H, and not only does it predict that to be quite the delicious dish, but it makes good on its introductory promise.
Instantly infectious with the kind of emotive euphoria you go through when you stumble upon some profoundly personal revelation whilst indulging an MDMA fuelled DMC (Deep Meaningful Conversation) with a complete stranger or old friend alike. Though the song is aesthetically pleasing with big choruses, earworm hooks, audible pyrotechnics, and a dancefloor pulse, there’s a strong undercurrent of an insurgent sincerity and seriousness to the song’s sentiment. Alliteration. Dealing with, as it does, the overwhelming moments in a relationship, but also its life-affirming message that nothing is really too much to handle, and you know why?
Because everything is going to be Great Good Fine OK.
