*opens time machine door, screams*

As Epic will apparently cross over with just about anything to do with meme and culture from any point in time, we are lurching closer to a One Pound Fish emote in Fortnite. This is judging by the fact that Gangnam Style has been teased as a new emote coming to the Item Shop. You know, Gangnam Style? The song with nearly 4 billion views on YouTube, the one that was at the height of its popularity before even the PS4 and Xbox One were out?

Here’s everything you need to know about the Gangnam Style emote in Fortnite, including when it will release.

Fortnite Gangnam Style Emote Release Date

The emote was first teased by Fortnite Korea and showed many of the game’s iconic characters dancing on top of a building in Salty Towers to the famous song.

When Fortnite does this, it usually means that a cosmetic will be in the Item Shop that same day, so expect Gangnam Style to be available from January 28th, 2021.

Here’s what it looks like in-game:

It’s a traversal emote and comes with licensed audio, meaning that you will have to be careful if you plan on streaming.

Fortnite Gangnam Style Price

Based on other famous dances that have officially made their way into Fortnite, Gangnam Style will cost 500 V-Bucks, though this isn’t an absolute given. It will probably stay in the Item Shop for at least a few days, as most licensed cosmetics do.

What’s Gangnam Style Again?

Really? It has nearly four billion views on YouTube, the first video on the website to reach one billion views, and was pretty much unavoidable for two years with even political leaders getting in on the act.

The music video a silly dance that makes it look like you’re riding a horse, which Fortnite itself parodied way back when with its Ride the Pony emote, and is heralded as the start of the Korean Wave, which is why you see fancams on Twitter now.

As for why it’s coming to Fortnite as an emote, nearly a decade later, your guess is as good as mine.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PS5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
