Last night, Capcom announced four out of the five characters that would be joining the Season 5 roster of Street Fighter V. These fighters include Dan Hibiki, Rose, Oro and Akira Kazama from the Rival Schools series. The news was announced as part of the Summer Update 2020, where the game’s developers sat down to run through all the update coming to the game over the next year and a half.
The new characters will be doled out in separate updates from now until the end of next year, with the first major update this winter bringing Dan Hibiki to the game. He’ll come with four costumes, along with a Capcom Pro Tour stage, costumes for other characters and a suite of new battle mechanics and balance changes.
Next spring will see the release of Rose, with her own stage and costumes, while the summer will see the release of both Oro and Akira Kazama. As you’d expect, both characters will receive lots of costumes, and Akira will even receive her own stage. Season 5 will then conclude with one final update next autumn, which will bring the final, unannounced character to the game, along with another Capcom Pro Tour stage.
If you’re interested in giving Street Fighter V a go if you haven’t already, there’s a free trial currently available on PS4 and Steam that includes all 40 previously released characters, including the most recent Gill and Seth. There’s also some big discounts on the game that are available until August 19th, so you’ve got plenty of time.
