Look at those numbers.

Sony have revealed the core specifications for the PS5 via their “Road To PS5” presentation, which saw lead system architect Mark Cerny talk for about 50 minutes about everything the PS5 will have to offer. I won’t lie to you, it’s quite dry, but you can check it out for yourself below.

The main takeaways from the presentation, which also come from an article by Digital Foundry, are regarding the console’s specs. The CPU and GPU boasts 8 Zen 2 Cores and 10.28 TFLOPs respectively, along with a custom 825GB internal SSD. Naturally, it’s a huge step up from the PS4, but in comparison to the Xbox Series X’s 12 TFLOPs and 1TB SSD, it doesn’t seem as powerful.

The Digital Foundry article goes into more detail about the console, with Cerny remarking that SSD was the number one request from developers regarding next-gen hardware. The article also states how expandable storage is possible, but would advise against using drives that don’t have Sony validation. There’s a lot of details to sift through, but to be honest it was quite dull and made my brain turn into mush. It’s almost as if it was a conference aimed at developers attending GDC 2020 and not the general public, but there you go. I’m going for a lie down, talk amongst yourselves in the comments.
