Tim Miller Teases New Trailer For Terminator: Dark Fate

Hasta la vista baby

NEw Terminator movie

Tim Miller, director of the upcoming Terminator: Dark Fate, has been rather busy on social media of late. He shared via the movie’s official Twitter account a picture from the editing bay, promising us that the trailer is coming soon, or in his words, “we’re just weeks away from releasing this fucker into the wild”.

Just when we thought the Terminator series was dead in the water, James Cameron decided he wanted to resurrect the series, much like how he brought the Titanic out from the water. Screenrant reports that after the disastrous outing of Terminator Genisys, the franchise rights went back to Cameron, who is serving as producer for Terminator: Dark Fate.

Dark Fate is the sixth film in the series, but will pick up where Terminator 2: Judgement Day left off, so we are essentially told to forget the other three even existed. This is an easy enough task since I gave up after Terminator Salvation.

Terminator: Dark Fate will see the return of Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor as well everyone’s favourite governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Some footage from the film was released during CinemaCon, which resulted in fans getting very excited. Snippets of the footage include Davis’ character time travelling into Mexico and getting rid of the cops sent to investigate, Gabriel Luna’s T-1000 (who has the ability to split into two – yikes) and finally, Sarah Connor herself showing up to launch a rocket at the terminators. Sounds like typical behaviour from the Sarah Connor we know and love.

Miller is known for his direction of Deadpool, so obviously some of that style has seeped into the movie. This is clearly a passion project for Miller, who choked up a little when presenting the footage at CinemaCon. The upcoming trailer will give us a better idea of what awaits, though we must not give our heart away even if the trailer blows us out of the water (this is my last water-related joke I swear). As we have seen from movies like Glass, sometimes the trailer can look superb, but the movie fails to deliver. Let’s hope that Terminator: Dark Fate will properly reboot the series, because I need more Arnie on my screen saying, “I’ll be back.”
