5 Survivor Series Teams That Will Probably Never Happen

Bullet Club WWE

The Survivor Series pay-per-view was originally put together to bring an array of different babyfaces and heels together in teams of 5 with cheesy names. Teams would vie for supremacy, not titles, but somewhere along the way this gimmick was dropped in favour of making Survivor Series feel like any old event. The grandeur of it being one of WWE’s ‘big four’ soon slipped and you’d typically find a distinct lack of traditional Survivor Series matches on the cards.

Granted, WWE are currently making Survivor Series the one night where Raw and Smackdown can do battle, but it never truly aids with building or ending rivalries outside of ones that just magically occur because “hey, you’re on the other brand, you dick”. What if WWE threw in a couple of traditional 5 on 5’s without a need to prove show superiority? I reckon some of the teams may, but probably won’t, look a little like this.

1. The Bullet Club

AJ Styles Balor

Let’s get this one out of the way, shall we. The Bullet Club is just too damn big right now, it’s almost impossible to not spot a fan wearing some sort of BC merch in any wrestling event crowd. Even though their presence is strong in most other companies external to WWE, it wouldn’t hurt to provide fans with a 2Sweet faction in the mainstream as well, nipping the competition’s trump card in the bud.

AJ Styles, Finn Balor, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows have all been core members of the Bullet Club within NJPW. Already establishing ties with Styles during his feud with Roman Reigns last year, Gallows and Anderson have pretty much been kept on the sidelines waiting for their big BC reunion. Balor has been constantly teasing an eventual manifestation of the Bullet/Balor Club, so WWE are undoubtedly not scared to make it happen.

If it were to be a Survivor Series team, though – who would be the fifth member? Well, if WWE were to truly make a Bullet Club of their own, they’d definitely need someone original to join the ranks. There are plenty of names that would suit the black and white, but one springs to mind as someone who could benefit not just the group itself but also revitalise that 205 division – Neville.

Yes yes, I know he’s practically gone now, but Neville could steal headlines if he were to show up as part of the neo Bullet Club. Having that inter-division ability could make him the star he started to create as Cruiserweight champion, and could also get eyes back on 205 Live.

2. The Undisputed Union

Currently festering down in the developmental brand of NXT is the trio of Adam Cole (BayBay), Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish, collectively known as The Undisputed Era. Their initial appearance sent shockwaves through the wrestling world and despite being involved in the NXT Tag Title picture, little seems to have happened since then. What if they were to band with a couple other former ROH indy darlings to form a union of sorts, a union against those chosen by WWE before them.

Imagine if Hideo Itami and Kassius Ohno were to suddenly side with Cole and pals? Putting themselves into the limelight and making opportunities for themselves. All having the connection of being part of the indy scene, it could given fans that release for seeing some of their favourite pre-WWE stars getting the rub over established stars.

Again, going back to 205 Live, what if Hideo and Ohno were to show up on Tuesday nights? Of course Itami would be the only one to fit the 205 weight standard, but having Kassius and co there as his backup would generate instant heat for him as a top contender.

3. The Samoan Syndicate

The isle of Samoa must be some sort of promised land for Vince McMahon, he just can’t help but find talented wrestlers from there. Names like Dwayne Johnson, Yokozuna, Rikishi and The Wild Samoans have etched themselves into the history books of Professional Wrestling and the next generation is currently tearing it up as some of the best all-rounded superstars on the roster. Imagine if they were to pull their talents together into one team?

Led by Roman Reigns, a mafia-like unit of The Usos, Samoa Joe and the up-and-coming Sean Maluta are formed that look to preserve their dominance in the main event scene. Think back to the Main Event Mafia in TNA, but with burly tattooed dudes.

Of course this would likely turn into a Samoa vs America feud, because what doesn’t in WWE. Either way, getting to see these superstars compete together and up the ante with their stiff and brutal style of wrestling would be a treat for any fan.

4. British Strong Style

Speaking of stiff and brutal, how about the Brits get a chance to shine at one of the big four. Pete Dunne, Trent Seven and Tyler Bate have been tearing up the indy scene since being taken on as part of the WWE’s UK title division. British Strong Style is a faction that most are familiar with since the start of the year, so why not give the peaky blinders some mainstream love.

Having to find an extra couple of hard hitters to make up their team of 5, Nigel McGuinness helps build bridges between them and the likes of Jack Gallagher and Jordan Devlin. I can imagine those two would look pretty suave in some tailored jackets and slicked back hair.

The UK division has been put back on the map after this past week’s Raw and 205 Live, its only a matter of time before they can start stealing the show on a regular basis. Probably.

5. Mount Massive

For the record, the name was inspired by Outlast. Most people’s perception of bigger wrestlers have been tainted by the stale performances of Kane and The Big Show (sorry guys), but recently the return of the big man has been ushered in by a certain monster among men. There’s a plethora of talented hosses slowly making their way up the ranks of developmental, so what if they were to team with Braun and start a huge monster stable.

I’m thinking Heavy Machinery, Lars Sullivan and Killian Dain combine forces to tower above the opponents and deliver some exciting matches that mix in some power with athleticism.

I could see it being a hit with certain people but potentially a draining rehash of older ideals for others. But Vince always loved his big man survivor series teams, so lets bring that into the new era.
