TOTK Balloons Video Guide

The Balloon is a Zonai Device in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom that can be used to help you create flying vehicles.

Balloons can most commonly be found in Device Dispensers across Hyrule. You can use Zonai Charge or Soldier Construct Horn to have a chance of earning a Balloon if you hold and then put those materials in the Dispenser. Rewards are random, but you can find out what reward each Dispenser has by looking up its inventory on your map.

The Device Dispenser in Kakariko Village has a good supply of Balloons.

When you have a Balloon, it works similarly to other Zonai Devices in that you have to hold it from your inventory and then attach it to whatever you want by using Ultrahand.

If you’re going to try and fly with a Balloon, you will want something that you can sit on, such as a large plank, before you start the device, but how exactly? Well, you will also need a Flame Emitter attached to your new little ship. Make sure that the Flame Emitter is pointing up into the balloon or you may set the plank on fire.

Hit the Flame Emitter and the Balloon will fill with air and start lifting off the ground, much like a hot air balloon. This will consume Zonai Energy, and once that’s depleted, your balloon will start descending again. You can use a Fan Zonai device to help you move in a specific direction too.

For obvious reasons, it really isn’t recommended that you start playing around with Balloons until you have the Paraglider.
