You Can’t Buy Tales From The Borderlands From Steam Anymore (UPDATED)

Alright, who are we gonna have a finger gun shootout with over this?

Telltale’s Tales From The Borderlands is no longer available for purchase from Steam.

While the store page remains intact, there is no button to buy the game.

Tales From The Borderlands

Tales From The Borderlands is set on Pandora and follows Rhys and Fiona as two opportunistic money-grabbers who are far more likable than that makes out. Spread across five episodes, Tales From The Borderlands actually has plenty of variation from the Telltale formula, as well as probably one the most affable cast of hoodlums you’ll find in any game.

The episodic adventure, which ranked among Telltale’s best works (it was certainly the funniest), has received Overwhelmingly Positive reviews over the years on Steam. One of its main characters, Rhys, is confirmed to return for the upcoming Borderlands 3 with a new voice actor, and even other characters like Loader Bot seem to be being heavily hinted at. The surprisingly buff Vaughan is also coming back.

Curiously, as well you not being able to purchase Tales From The Borderlands individually, you can also not buy it as part of the Telltale Collection, despite it being featured in the promotional image. The same goes for Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead.

Telltale Collection

For those not in the now, Telltale Games ceased operations late last year after a business deal fell through at the eleventh hour, which was on top of all of the bad business decisions they made over the years. The in-progress final season of The Walking Dead was handed back to Skybound Games as a result, who then re-hired some of the team to conclude the series.

As for Tales From The Borderlands 2, that’s simply not happening, but I would love to be proven wrong.

We have reached out to 2K Games for comment.

UPDATE: here’s that comment from a 2K representative:

“We are working to get Tales from the Borderlands back up on digital storefronts as soon as possible. All prior digital purchases of the game will of course still be honored and supported.”
