In response to the news that E3 2020 has been cancelled because of the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, Xbox have revealed that they’ll be hosting a digital event at some point, in lieu of their traditional E3 showcases. Check out the official tweet from Head of Xbox Phil Spencer below.

Xbox were one of the few supporters left for E3 2020, and naturally they had a big year planned. With the launch of the Xbox Series X scheduled for the end of this year, not hosting a summer reveal event would have been a huge blow to Microsoft’s marketing strategy.

No time frame was given regarding when this digital event would be held, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see it scheduled for early to mid-June, around the same time as E3 was scheduled for. In the meantime, Microsoft will be holding a special keynote livestream focused on the Xbox Series X and Project xCloud streaming service.
