Xbox Series X|S Console Exclusive The Medium Refused Classification In Australia

Crikey.

The Medium

Bloober Team’s The Medium is set to launch on PC and the Xbox Series X|S on December 10th, but one area that the game won’t be launching in is Australia, as the game has been refused classification there.

Wait, How Come?

Kotaku first broke this news yesterday, and right now, a reason for the refused classification is unclear. Kotaku theorised that it’s possible someone at Bloober Team or Microsoft has made an error when submitting the game for classification, though they also compare the refused classification to Outlast 2, which only got an R18+ in Australia after a scene depicting sexual violence was removed. The Medium is meant to be more of a psychological horror than a gorefest, but it’s still possible something similar occurred.

Will The Medium Ever Launch In Australia?

Possibly. Again, Outlast 2 was made available after the offending content was removed, and if it’s true that The Medium was filed incorrectly, those mistakes can be rectified. Time will tell whether or not The Medium will see the light of day in the land down under.
