Today, Microsoft finally decided to end this horrible charade we’ve all been living in and announce the Xbox Series S, a new next-gen console that’ll act as a midway point between the Xbox One and the Xbox Series X. This midway console will cost $299/£249, with Microsoft promising more details soon.

However, those details may have arrived earlier than expected thanks to another leak, this time from Twitter user @_h0x0d_, who has shared a promotional trailer that touts the specs of the Xbox Series S. While there’s no guarantee that this is legitimate, it certainly looks like the real deal, especially when you consider the design of the Series S only got revealed today.

The biggest takeaways from the leak are that the Series S will be launching this November, and will be running a custom 512GB NVME SSD, which isn’t that big, especially when you consider that the Series S will be all digital. Once you’ve installed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, or Black Ops Cold War as the case may be, you won’t have room for much else.

As for the console’s specs, it’ll support 1440p at 120fps across its games, with 4K upscaling for gaming and 4K media playback. The console will also be able to support raytracing, variable rate shading and refresh rate, along with the ability to seamlessly switch games to boot. The Series S certainly seems to offer plenty of the next-gen benefits that the Series X offers, for a fraction of the price too, with the only downgrades being the lack of memory, the fact it’s digital and the 4K upscaling.

Still, for a next-gen offering that’s only $299/£249, it’s an incredibly good deal. While PS5 might still be the console of choice for many gamers, the Series S with a Game Pass subscription looks to be an affordable way of ensuring players don’t miss out on any Xbox games that take their eye.
