Xbox One’s Home Screen Getting A Redesign, Removing Cortana

Streamlined with no Cortana.

All-Digital

Microsoft are testing a new redesign for the Xbox One home screen that removes some of the clutter. Instead of five separate screens for the likes of Community, Game Pass, Mixer and the Xbox Store, each section will now be located as tiles on the home screen. The home screen is also getting rearranged slightly to accommodate this change. You can see the screen for yourself below.

One of the other biggest changes in the new dashboard is the removal of Cortana as a voice-activated assistant. No more using your headset to tell Cortana to find new games on the Xbox Store. This is apparently part of a much larger push from Microsoft to shift Cortana to a more “business-oriented assistant”.

This new Xbox home screen will be rolling out to Alpha and Alpha Skip Ahead level Insiders, and it should be available to all Xbox One owners at some point in the autumn. What do you think about the home screen redesign? Sound off in the comments.
