WWE Survivor Series 2017 Match Card and Predictions

WWE Survivor Series 2017

The 2017 Survivor Series, taking place on Sunday, November 19th, is looking to be a massive event, pitting the Raw and Smackdown Live rosters against one another in every match on the card. As a result, fans will see matchups that they wouldn’t expect to ever see due to the current brand split. A number of changes to the card have taken place in recent weeks, and thus Brock Lesnar will now face off against AJ Styles after he had been initially slated to battle Jinder Mahal. Who will come out on top and carry with them the bragging rights for their specific brand, and who will fall flat on their face disappointing the rest of their roster?

AJ Styles vs. Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar Aj Styles

The match will have a shorter build, compared to the original booking of Lesnar facing Jinder Mahal. We aren’t certain why the decision was made to change the booking, but we are certain that the new direction to have Lesnar and Styles face each other means we will witness a battle between one of the most notable draws in wrestling, and arguably one of the greatest wrestlers in the world. Fans can anticipate a hard-hitting match against Styles doing everything and anything he can, not to mention selling his butt off in the ring. While a clean loss at the hands of Lesnar might be construed by some as Styles being buried, it’s possible that Jinder Mahal may get involved, causing a loss that doesn’t hurt Styles in the long run.

Predicted Winner: Brock Lesnar

Team Raw (Men) vs. Team Smackdown Live (Men)

Team Smackdown vs Team Raw

With both teams have been finalized, it’s clear to see that is an opportunity to have the likes of Samoa Joe, Finn Balor, John Cena, Bobby Roode and Shinsuke Nakamura either face-off against one another or work alongside one another. The last-minute announcement of having Cena as part of team Smackdown Live also leaves room for disgruntled members of a roster (though they were not involved in the siege on Raw by Smackdown Live) to get involved. Both Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn have suggested that Smackdown Live will lose. Based on that statement, the belief is these men will cost Shane McMahon his chance to even the odds with Raw, and prevent his brand from winning.

Predicted Winner: Team Raw (Braun Strowman, sole survivor)

The Miz vs. Baron Corbin

The Miz Baron Corbin

Heel versus heel matchups aren’t normally done, but in this instance, fans have seen animosity being built via social media between these two champions on their respective brands. What has been interesting to note is the fan support The Miz has received, despite being a heel, during his back and forth with Corbin. Fans have come to his support because he has shown continued growth both in the ring and while delivering promos. This could be an instance where outside interference helps one man or the other go over. With Sin Cara in the midst of a feud with Corbin, he may inadvertently cost the champion a chance to win. Alternatively, the Miztourage could play a part in The Miz’s success.

Predicted Winner: The Miz

The Usos vs. Cesaro and Sheamus

The Usos vs Sheamus and Cesaro

This is another heel versus heel matchup that pits the Smackdown Live tag team champions against the Raw tag team champions. The rationale for having Cesaro and Sheamus winning the Raw tag team championships and facing The Usos is because it frees up the members of the Shield to face the threesome of the New Day, in retaliation for the Smackdown Live group costing them their championships. Fans may gravitate to the brothers Uso during this match, making them pseudo-faces in the process. This may or may not continue as they prepare to defend their titles against Benjamin and Gable on Smackdown Live. This could be an instance where Smackdown Live comes out on top to help counter Raw’s believed dominance on this evening.

Predicted Winners: The Usos

WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match

Enzo Amore (c) vs. Kalisto

Enzo v Kalisto

The Cruiserweight title will be defended on this evening as the Skywalker, trash talker defends his championship against the former United States and Cruiserweight champion Kalisto. We don’t have very high hopes for this match, as it will essentially be Kalisto demonstrating his creative and innovative arsenal, and Amore there mostly to sell. As it stands, Amore will do anything and everything it takes to come out on top, even if that means the most unscrupulous of methods in being victorious, which has been evident in any of his altercations with Kalisto to date. It’s hard seeing anyone other than Amore holding the championship for the duration of 2017. That doesn’t bode well for Kalisto.

Predicted Winner: Enzo Amore

The Shield vs. The New Day

The Shield vs The New Day

It has been three years in the making and has resulted in a challenge laid out by the reunited Reigns, Ambrose and Rollins. This past week, the Hounds of Justice were looking for vengeance, as the week prior they lost their Raw tag team championships to the team of Cesaro and Sheamus. To recap what took place, the New Day appeared in the crowd, apparently spearheading another Smackdown Live siege; but it was nothing more than a ruse. It appears that the New Day was simply looking to get into the heads of those involved in the match, and ultimately cost them a championship. The last-minute decision to make this match will no doubt provide a great opportunity to have two of the most successful factions in the last decade face-off against one another.

Predicted Winners: The Shield

Alexa Bliss vs. Charlotte

Alexa Bliss vs Charlotte

A last-minute change to this match came about when Charlotte defeated Natalya in this past week’s edition of Smackdown Live, and capture the WWE Smackdown Live women’s championship. It was a heralded affair, as Charlotte’s win came at home, and she was warmly congratulated in a welcome return by her father, the Nature Boy Ric Flair. Flair had some very serious health issues recently, which are hopefully behind him. Between Bliss and Flair, the question is who will come out on top? If this evening is any indication, Bliss gets the upper hand. As she has been the most consistent champion of the two, it is almost certain that she will walk away as the winner on Sunday evening. There are too many things in Charlotte’s way, most notably Money in the Bank winner Carmella.

Predicted Winner: Alexa Bliss

Team Raw (Women) vs. Team Smackdown Live (Women)

Smackdown women v raw women

An interesting series of events took place on the go home edition of Smackdown Live. During the Raw invasion, the entire Raw women’s roster ransacked the Smackdown Live women’s locker room. At the end of it, Bliss clocked Charlotte, leaving the new Smackdown Live women’s champion knocked out. With Charlotte moving into the champion versus champion match against Bliss, who replaces her on team Smackdown Live? There are a number of rumors about what could take place, including having Paige return, or Natalya, or potentially Nikki Bella be the fifth member of the team. The element of surprise could be what gives team SD Live the advantage in this one.

Predicted Winners: Team Smackdown Live (Becky Lynch and fifth member)
