WWE Royal Rumble 2022: Official Card & Line-Up

Let's get ready to Rumble!

Royal Rumble 2018

The WWE Royal Rumble is undoubtedly one of the biggest and most exciting wrestling shows of the entire year, second only to WrestleMania. This year features two star-studded Rumble matches as well as two marquee championship matches. WWE have teased some huge surprises for this year’s event, including a potential appearance from ‘Rowdy’ Ronda Rousey and even a cameo from the legendary Undertaker.

With the eyes of the world watching, let’s run down the official card for Royal Rumble 2022.

1. Men’s Royal Rumble Match

30 men enter the ring and only one leaves the winner. In order to score a spot in the main event of WrestleMania, a superstar must outlast every other entrant and eliminate their opponents by tossing them over the top rope with both of their feet then hitting the floor. In the past, we’ve seen the likes of John Cena, Shawn Michaels, Triple H and even Vince McMahon walk away with the big win, but this year’s features some wild cards that could very well go the distance.

Currently confirmed for the Men’s Rumble are the following wrestlers:

  • Angelo Dawkins
  • Austin Theory
  • Rey Mysterio
  • Montez Ford
  • Dominik Mysterio
  • Sheamus
  • Johnny Knoxville
  • Damian Priest
  • AJ Styles
  • Big E
  • Happy Corbin
  • Madcap Moss
  • Sami Zayn
  • Kofi Kingston
  • Kevin Owens
  • Omos
  • Randy Orton
  • Riddle
  • Chad Gable
  • Otis
  • Dolph Ziggler
  • Robert Roode

2. Women’s Royal Rumble Match

It wouldn’t be fair for the male wrestlers to have all the fun. To match the guy’s efforts, 30 women will also step into the squared circle and do battle for a shot at their respective Women’s Champions at WrestleMania. Last year we saw Bianca Belair shock the world and win her first Royal Rumble match, having only recently been called up from the NXT brand.

This year’s Rumble features a plethora of stars from both today’s roster and yesteryear’s, let’s take a look at who could be walking out a winner.

  • Rhea Ripley
  • Nikki A.S.H
  • Dana Brooke
  • Carmella
  • Zelina Vega
  • Tamina
  • Shotzi
  • Natalya
  • Aliyah
  • Naomi
  • Shayna Baszler
  • Charlotte Flair
  • Nikki Bella
  • Brie Bella
  • Lita
  • Michelle McCool
  • Kelly Kelly
  • Summer-Rae
  • Mickie James
  • Liv Morgan
  • Bianca Belair

3. Brock Lesnar vs Bobby Lashley – WWE Championship

One of the hottest and most anticipated championship matches heading into the Rumble this year is the titanic clash between former MMA stars, Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley. The current WWE Champion, Lesnar, will be competing in his first championship defence against an opponent that many wrestling fans have been hoping would step into the ring with ‘The Beast’ since his return in 2017.

Lashley and Lesnar share many similar accolades across both pro wrestling, collegiate wrestling and mixed martial arts, though have never crossed paths until very recently at WWE Day 1.

Expect this to be a hard-hitting and probably a shorter affair than most, but this will certainly have the fans on the edge of their seats from the get-go.

4. Roman Reigns vs Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins – WWE Universal Championship

Another WrestleMania-quality title match is taking place between former Shield brothers, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins. Rollins, who has recently turned babyface to challenge his former friend, has managed to balance the odds by ensuring that the Usos will not be present at ringside for this match.

Rumours are suggesting that the WWE and Universal Championships could be traded between shows, implying that Rollins may be taking the Universal title back to RAW, finally bringing Roman’s reign of terror (see what I did there?) to an end.

This is the first time Rollins and Reigns have met one-on-one since Money in the Bank 2016, so get ready for a peak performance from two of WWE’s biggest stars, wrestling at their best.

5. Edge & Beth Phoenix vs The Miz & Maryse

Since making their respective comebacks in December, Edge and The Miz have been engaged in a personal feud. Having battled at Day 1 already, it’s now time for their better halves to get involved, with a huge mixed tag match set for the Royal Rumble.

For the first time since 2019, Beth Phoenix will return to in-ring competition on the main roster alongside her hubby. Also, this will mark the third decade where Beth and Maryse will compete against each other.

This should be a fun curtain jerker for the big event.

6. Becky Lynch vs Doudrop

The final confirmed match for the Royal Rumble this year is a RAW Women’s title clash between Becky Lynch and Doudrop. Since dispatching of Liv Morgan, Lynch has found a new challenger in the mighty Doudrop, making for an interesting clash of styles for the second biggest show of the year.

This is easily Doudrop’s biggest match to date on the main roster, so it should be fun to watch her make the most of that moment with one of the biggest female wrestling stars of all time.

I wouldn’t expect her to walk away with the title just yet though.
