WWE Release Curtis Axel

A not so perfect ending to his WWE career.

WWE have confirmed the release of former Intercontinental and Tag Team champion, Curtis Axel. The third-generation superstar unfortunately found himself among the growing list of staff cuts made my WWE during these uncertain times and could potentially be the first of a second batch of releases made by the company.

Curtis Axel’s career began with a promise, being the descendent of former WWE headliner, Mr. Perfect, and being managed by Paul Heyman, the winner of the second series of NXT quickly found himself featured in main events against blockbuster stars such as Triple H and John Cena. Axel nabbed a run with the mid-card championship but didn’t quite get off the ground running in the way the top brass expected him to.

Axel was later relegated to various Tag Teams, including The Social Outcasts, The Miztourage and finally The B-Team, in which he did manage to claim a second run with the Tag Titles alongside fellow struggling star, Bo Dallas.

Since dropping the titles, The B-Team failed to recapture momentum and has been kept off of television since. There’s no wonder why Axel’s name was pencilled onto the cut list. We hope ‘The Axe Man’ manages to find some success on the independent circuit.
