While not the most popular addition to WWE 2K games ever, Towers had plenty of fans when they were added to WWE 2K19, replacing Showcase mode. Now, both are back in WWE 2K22, but Towers isn’t exactly where you’d think.
Players can only take part in Towers as part of the MyFaction mode, WWE 2K’s version of Ultimate Team where players assemble the strongest faction they can by collecting cards and maybe even spending some extra real money.
Towers are weekly and themed around a particular show or event. The first one available at the launch of 2K22 is the Mae Young Classic, for instance. Players must sequentially win five matches and complete objectives one after the other to earn MFP (MyFaction Points) and keep progressing through the tower until it is eventually cleared.
Players can use their MFP from their weekly Towers to buy more cards and packs, which they can then use against more AI opponents and other sub-modes within MyFaction, like the frustrating 8-man tags where nobody ever wins because pins constantly get broken up.
There will no doubt be plenty more Towers added over the lifespan of WWE 2K22, with players able to dig into a lot of famous wrestling matching series for the foreseeable future. While it’s a pity that there’s less of a modifier focus compared to 2K19, it’s worth remembering that all that could change as the game gets supported.
WWE 2K22 is available on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X & S, and Xbox One.
