WWE 2K22 is the long-awaited new WWE 2K game that’s the first “true” WWE 2K since 2019’s much reviled WWE 2K20. There’s plenty to look forward to, but can Switch owners also look forward to WWE 2K22 on their console?

The short answer is no, WWE 2K22 is not currently scheduled to come to Switch, just PC, PlayStation and Xbox.

There are a few possible reasons for this, the likeliest being that the Switch simply isn’t powerful enough to run a WWE 2K game, let alone one that will also be on next-gen. The evidence for this lies in WWE 2K18, which is often highlighted as one of the worst AAA games to ever make its way to the console. Basically unplayable in anything but a 1v1 match, WWE 2K18 on Switch looks bad and plays even worse, with the game slowing down to almost comedic levels during gameplay.

The “true” WWE 2K series hasn’t been back to the Switch since 2017, though the also not especially liked WWE 2K Battlegrounds did make its way to the platform in 2020. With WWE 2K games only likely to increase in fidelity from here, with WWE 2K22 representing the franchise’s bow on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X & S, it seems even less likely that we’ll ever get a proper WWE 2K game on the console.

However, never say never, as nobody ever could have predicted that the likes of Dying Light or The Witcher 3 would make their way to the Switch. Developers seem to better know how to squeeze every pixel out of the Switch compared to when WWE 2K18 came out, so it’s not technically impossible.

There’s also the possibility of a cloud version of WWE 2K22 akin to “ports” like Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and Hitman 3, which are streaming versions of the game. It’s a little prohibitive for those without amazing internet speeds, but any version might be better than no version.

WWE 2K22 launches March 11th, 2022 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S.
