WWE 2K20: 5 Character Models That Need Updating

WWE 2K models are usually on point, but here are 5 that desperately need a makeover.

On the whole, the guys behind the facial and motion capture at WWE 2K absolutely nail the character models in their annual installments. In fact, the level of detail put into designing each of the wrestler’s models is the franchise’s strongest features. I personally look forward to seeing how well the team put together each of the superstar’s in each game, aside from a few outliers, the majority are always spot on. But as always, the world of wrestling is forever changing, therefore the guys behind WWE 2K20 need to keep their fingers on the pulse when it comes to updating character models and making sure they are the most modern version of themselves.

2K19 suffered from having a few superstars kept behind the times. For those who like to keep up-to-date in their universe modes and fantasy booking, this can be a real hindrance. In this list, we’re going to run down the 5 character models that need updating the most. I imagine those that were available for scans around WrestleMania time will find themselves updated in the upcoming game, so here’s hoping they’ll all get a decent makeover in 2K20.

1. Pete Dunne

‘The Bruiserweight’ was one of the most exciting entries in the 2K19 roster. The NXT UK brand was establishing itself as some of the best wrestling under the WWE umbrella, especially after the fantastic match between Dunne and Bate at NXT: TakeOver Chicago. Naturally, the two former UK Champions made it into the game and were lots of fun to play as.

Pete Dunne however seemed to become outdated pretty quickly. His character model wasn’t exactly terrible, in fact the facial scan was one of the better ones in the entire game, but since the release of 2K19, a lot has changed for Dunne. His hair has grown into a luscious mane, he’s grown quite the gritty beard and has beefed up significantly. I’m sure there are legions of fans who are excited to pick up Pete Dunne in this year’s game, so best get on making those adjustments and making sure he is the most modern version of himself.

2. Baron Corbin

‘The Lone Wolf’ was a frustrating mishap of 2K19. Prior to release, Corbin was living in his ‘Constable’ gimmick, sporting quite a fancy waistcoat and suit pants to the ring and of course had shaved the few strands that he had left. Corbin has really stepped up on the Raw roster as one of their top heels, so I suspect plenty of fans and gamers will be looking forward to putting Corbin through some virtual pain.

I can imagine 2K have already implemented these changes, it would be a strange sight to see if Corbin was to show up in the new game with his old attire. Also get on ramping up his overall level too.

3. Bray Wyatt

A very unlikely change to be made so soon after his re-debut, but Bray Wyatt’s gimmick has undergone quite the evolution in the past few months. In 2K19, Bray Wyatt was given his ‘Deleters Of World’ attire, which looked great, especially with the updated dreadlocks. Unfortunately, that’s not the Bray Wyatt the WWE Universe now adores.

‘The Fiend’ has become one of the most talked about parts of current programming, and will soon become one of the most widely recognised superstars based on aesthetic alone. His mask, his new hair-do and the downright scary demeanor he now holds should be included as part of 2K20.

Most facial scans/design tweaks are made around WrestleMania season, so it’d be very difficult for the modelling team to get on this with only a few months left before release. Then again, with Wyatt’s schedule being freed up in the build to his return, perhaps they were able to slip in a quick scan and modelling session with Bray.

Should ‘The Fiend’ not be part of 2K20, keep your eyes peeled on Community Creations.

4. Bobby Roode

‘The Glorious One’ hasn’t exactly made a huge impact on the main roster in the past year. Around the time of 2K19, he had just debuted and was successfully making a name for himself as part of the mid-card, so he was given ample time when producing his character model. A lot has changed for Roode though, his status on the roster has dropped significantly to the point where he has completely re-branded himself as ‘Robert Roode’.

Even though the glorious facial hair has since been sidelined, the moustache that broke the internet should definitely be included as part of his character model this year. Fans of Roode will love being able to bring his current iteration into the championship picture, let’s hope he doesn’t get left behind like he seems to have been on the main roster.

5. Tyler Breeze

Tyler Breeze made his return to NXT this year, bringing back the ‘Prince Pretty’ gimmick that made him famous. The 2K team made a big deal out of The Fashion Police in previous games, but now that the two have seemingly parted ways for now, it’s time to update Breeze and focus on his singles career. His long locks have gone and his attire has returned to the style of his OG gimmick. Let’s make sure that gets included in 2K20.

Breeze could easily become one of the most popular superstars in NXT, meaning lots of gamers will probably want to play as him throughout Universe and Career modes, bringing him to prosperity in many new ways. Plus maybe we’ll finally see the selfie-cam sync up properly.
