Wrestling News: Kenny Omega In the UK, New Japan In America, Josh Matthews Leaves Impact Wrestling

– At the climax of the latest Impact tapings, Josh Matthews is no longer a member of the shows announcing team.

A 4-on-4 tag match saw Team Jeremy Borash vs Team GOAT (Matthews team) – a multiple week storyline based on the two commentators bickering on the announce desk, eurgh.

Team JB consisted of Alberto El Patron, Chris Adonis, Brutus Magnus and Matt Morgan.

Team GOAT was formed of Bobby Lashley, Eli Drake, Bram and Tyrus.

Fingers crossed that Matthews stays gone.

– The Elite (Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks) are currently making a rare tour of the UK.

Appearing at Discovery Wrestling in Glasgow on Wednesday and Rev Pro in London last night, the trio are set to continue with an appearance for Fight Club Pro tonight in Wolverhampton, finishing up at OTT Wrestling in Dublin on Saturday.

Tickets sold out weeks in advance, driven by the appearance of The Cleaner, Kenny Omega. Due to his extremely busy schedule with NJPW, Omega competing overseas is a rare sight.

– Speaking of New Japan, they released a thank you message on their website earlier today, ahead of their two dates in the US, as part of a special G1-Climax based attraction:

“We want to thank the fans from over 37 states in the US that purchased tickets. Fans from as far away as Anchorage, Alaska and Honolulu, HI will be flying in to witness these amazing events. Fans from Canada were also lucky enough to get through.

New Japan Pro-Wrestling set history on April 1, 2017 with a historic sell out of 2 events within less than 2 hours.

We are currently working on our next major announcement right now. We are extremely happy with your response and are looking forward to delivering a truly unique experience.”

– You may have seen a certain petition floating around the interwebs recently.

One particularly distraught fan launched a campaign to get Braun Strowman fired after his assault on Roman Reigns, culminating in Strowman defying physics and tipping over an ambulance.

In response, Strowman tweeted:

Rumours suggest that this was a way to write Roman off TV for a while, and set up Strowman as the eventual next contender to Brock Lesnar’s Universal Championship.
