WrestleMania 34 Card Predictions Following Elimination Chamber 2018

WrestleMania 35

So the first of two filler pay-per-views has passed us by and, as expected, it was fairly inconsequential. The two main events have pretty much been confirmed to be the hotly anticipated Styles vs. Nakamura and the match that could turn Wrestlemania into WrestleMOANia – Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar.

Of course, things could indeed change as we draw closer to the biggest show of the year. But, for now, we can speculate that this will be the rest of the drafted card.

Kurt Angle & Ronda Rousey vs. Triple H & Stephanie McMahon

So the baddest woman on the planet hasn’t had the best of starts on Raw. Already thrown into a Wrestlemania feud with the power couple of Trip and his wife Stephanie, it seems that she’s poised to take the third main event spot of the night.

I mean, of course, she’s the biggest box office attraction since Brock Lesnar. There’s no surprise that she’s instantly being thrusted into a feud with The Authority. Since the Chamber, Angle has found himself brought into the mix, being laid out by H on Raw this past Monday.

Naturally, this is setting up an inevitable mixed Tag match. Whether or not Rousey is prepared for such a grand stage for her debut, she’s in the ring with at least two megastars who could negate any sloppiness.

The Miz vs. Finn Balor vs. Seth Rollins

The Intercontinental title scene hasn’t been so stacked in a long while. Both Seth and Finn are now vying for the chance to put an end to The Miz’s reign. It’s hard to justify just one of these two talented mid-carders being given the chance to potentially steal the show. I think we’ll be seeing some extremely close number one contender matches in the near future, only for both competitors to be granted the opportunity.

There’s a lot of potential for this match to be a new beginning for either Seth or Finn, and also a time for Miz to elevate himself beyond the midcard scene.

Matt Hardy vs. Bray Wyatt

Again? Really? I don’t think this feud took off the way they hoped it would. Sure, Hardy is OVAH with his reborn Woken gimmick, but his matches with Wyatt have fallen flat. Their climax at Chamber was more of the same, with the majority of the crowd being more interested in beach balls.

Nevertheless, they seem to be teasing a rematch of some sort. What made the Broken gimmick so fun was their reliance on pre-taped material such as The Final Deletion. I’d put my money on Bray and Matt putting their heads together to create something just as weird and whimsical. Hopefully there’s still hope for this programme.

The Usos vs. The New Day vs. The Bludgeon Brothers vs. Gable and Benjamin

The Smackdown tag title scene is bringing itself to a crescendo with these four teams. The talent available here can only promise incredible things.

Another Usos/New Day match has been scheduled for Fast Lane, I sense incoming shenanigans from the two heel teams of Harper, Rowan, Gable and Benjamin.

Multi-man matches are sometimes hit or miss, but perhaps if some tables, ladders and chairs were involved then we could be onto something.

Bobby Roode vs. Dolph Ziggler

Ziggler came back at the Rumble and has just sort of existed since. Coming off his biggest wave of momentum since cashing in a few years back, WWE can’t seem to figure out what they want to do with him aside from throw lucrative contracts his way.

Last we saw of him before the Rumble, he was US Champion. Unless this is some long winded way of him being humbled and realising that the US title is actually pretty worthwhile, he doesn’t seem to really care about taking it back.

Roode technically never beat him for the title, so maybe we’ll be seeing a rehash of the Razor Ramoan/Shawn Michaels feud from Wrestlemania 10, resulting in one Undisputed united States champion.

These two could create magic if given the time to do so. I have high hopes.

Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal

The annual clusterfuck of both rosters will probably be given a little extra credit this year, what with the HBO documentary of the big man approaching release.

There’s a few faces I’d be keeping my eye on this year, namely: Elias, Rusev and Jinder Mahal.

It’s hard to really call this, as there’s yet to be any sort of structure or pattern to the match. Strangely enough, this match becomes one of the most intriguing of the entire card.

The Bar vs. The Revival vs. The Balor Club

More multi-team matches, that’s what we need! Hey, I’m all for this. This would probably be the most hard-hitting tag title match we’ve seen in years.

Both The Revival and the Balor Club seem to be on a collision course for the Tag title scene, seeing those four guys be given the opportunity they deserve come Mania would be a treat.

Sasha Banks vs. Bayley

From what I gather, this is a match that WWE have been sitting on for quite a while. To be frank, it’s nice to have a women’s feud developing outside of the title picture. What every division needs is a good undercard to support its main eventers. In this case, the female megapowers explode.

Banks and Bayley have proven that they have incredible chemistry on a big stage, surely it’ll be no different if they pull the trigger on this feud heading into NOLA.

Asuka vs Alexa Bliss

Speaking of, here’s the title match. This story has written itself perfectly, with the dominant challenger smashing her way through everything before dealing some comeuppance to the heel champion.

I’m so looking forward to seeing the resolution to this story, if it goes the way everyone expects it to. Asuka is primed to be Women’s champion.

Kevin Owens vs Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn KO

Let’s face it, these two aren’t remaining friends for much longer. Similarly to Roode/Ziggler, I suspect they’ll be able to make something beautiful if given the time and the tools to do so at Wrestlemania. We’ve already seen some stunning matches on the past, so why not a few more?

Wrestlemania is the end goal for all wrestlers and Owens and Zayn are the personification of guys that have fought hard to be there, so there’s no doubt that they’re going to go all in for this match.

Zayn especially is in dire need of a big win, so this could be his moment.

John Cena vs Rey Mysterio

You all bought it, even my immediate family bought it! WWE had everyone thinking that The Undertaker would be returning for one last ride against Ferdinand The Bull, but rumours have been floating of another opponent. Rey Mysterio made a huge return at the Royal Rumble this year… and then vanished, leaving him in the same class as The Great Khali for dramatic returns without a follow-up.

But here we are, on the road to Wrestlemania and the extensive coverage of how John Cena is trying to insert himself into every feud possible just to get himself on the card. I mean, WWE aren’t kidding anyone here, of course Cena will make it onto the show. What a big money match it could be pairing him with Rey as Mysterio’s comeback singles match. It would cap a night of Wrestlemania homecomings from the likes of him and Kurt Angle, two superstars that defined the Ruthless Aggression Era.

Cena and Mysterio have rarely clashed in the ring, now that they have both matured as in-ring performers, it would be interesting to see how they match up on such a huge stage. I for one would much rather see this contest than the token Undertaker appearance. Undertaker is more than just a sideshow act.
