Wrestlemania 34 Card Order Predictions

WrestleMania 34 poster4

I‘ve noticed a few people taking a crack at predicting the match order for this year’s WrestleMania. With it being as stacked as it is, it’s difficult to figure out exactly where each match will end up. So, here’s my attempt to figure the undercard from the main events, what’s going to be our cool-downs and which will be slotted into the peak times.

As always, feel free to leave your suggested amendments in the comments below.

Pre-Show #1 – Cedric Alexander vs Mustafa Ali

The Cruiserweight Championship tournament reaches its conclusion at Wrestlemania, although similar to last year, I don’t see the 205 Live division breaking into the main card. Controversy surrounded last year’s Austin Aries/Neville title match after it was placed at the top of the pre-show, but it provided Wrestlemania 33 with the explosive start that it deserved.

I suspect that this year, the heart and soul of 205 Live will be sent out first to light up the crowd with a chemistry that I’m sure they’re ready to show the world come Sunday.

Pre-Show #2 & #3 – Women’s & Men’s Battle Royals

Women's Battle Royal

The inaugural Women’s Wrestlemania Battle Royal will most likely be relegated to the pre-show, along with its male counterpart, the Andre Battle Royal. As these two matches are mostly used to get as much of the roster competing at Wrestlemania as possible, I doubt they have too many grandiose plans going into the two, and would probably want to utilise it as a crowd-warmer.

The real stories going into these matches are Sasha vs Bayley and any potential returns to take place in the Andre. Several of the injured reserved list have been floating about backstage, so it wouldn’t shock me if we saw Samoa Joe, Big Cass or even Jeff Hardy take the trophy in the men’s battle royal.

Main Card #1 – The Usos vs The New Day vs The Bludgeon Brothers

WrestleMania 34 tag team

Rumour has it that the Smackdown Tag title match will have an added stipulation, possibly along the lines of a TLC or Ladder match. So if this is to be the absolute clusterfuck of spot-monkeyness that it probably will be, then it’ll probably be used as a curtain jerker, and a great one at that.

I, for one, think this has the possibility to steal the show, so even if it is saved for a little further down the card, then this is undoubtedly a highlight of the night.

Main Card #2 – Randy Orton vs Jinder Mahal vs Bobby Roode vs Rusev

WrestleMania 34 us title

The United States title match seems like it’ll bring the pace down ever so slightly, but nevertheless has the star power to carry it on the main card. I should hope this will be a shorter multi-man match, I mean I can’t see a great deal of ‘excitement’ coming from either of these four, but the entrances of Roode and Rusev alone will be enough to make this something to pay attention to.

Definitely a match that should be kept towards the start of the show before the crowd gets too burned out.

Match #3 – Alexa Bliss vs Nia Jax

The first of the women’s division matches should be given to Raw and a match which I don’t see lasting very long. Whether you agree with the build to this match or not, this will certainly be part of the main card and probably be used as a means of making Nia look REALLY STRONG!

Would peg this as a squash match, because that’s how we defeat body insecurities.

Match #4 – Daniel Bryan/Shane McMahon vs Kevin Owens/Sami Zayn

Daniel Bryan WM 34

What would be a stellar main event if it weren’t Wrestlemania, this tag match will be the first of the big-money moments in the card. Originally I was thinking this might open the show, but the sensible decision would be to keep people waiting for that monstrous reaction D-Bry is going to get.

This is going to be incredible, another potential show-stealer on our hands. Tears at the ready.

Segment – Elias’ Performance

Commentary seems to be dictating that Elias is going to be doing some sort of performance at Wrestlemania. This is great and all, but he should really be involved in some sort of match. I can’t see him being revealed as Braun’s partner, it just doesn’t logically fit in my head. Instead, he’ll be given the ol’ legends bury the fuck out of someone spot.

Sorry, Elias, but you’re going to get Jeff Jarrett’s guitar cracked over your head.

Match #5 – Seth Rollins vs Finn Balor vs The Miz

WM 34 Intercontinental

Like the US title match, I doubt this will get a great deal of time to showcase itself as an exceptional match, but will be fun to have as somewhat of a cool-down from Daniel Bryan’s comeback. These three have the potential to capture the audience and put on a classic, putting it in the middle of the card should keep the momentum going before we crash.

Match #6 – Charlotte vs Asuka

Asuka v Charlotte

As we draw to the latter part of the event, these two women should put on a belter of a title match. I should hope this match is given quite a bit of time for the two to exercise the dream match and put in some good false finishes. Definitely see this as a high point of the evening.

Match #7 – Kurt Angle/Ronda Rousey vs Triple H/Stephanie McMahon

A difficult one to figure out. At first, I thought this one might even close the show if they see Ronda as that big of a deal for WWE. Alternatively, I think they’d like to put this just after Asuka’s win so they can start the slow-build to their match at next year’s Mania. We see the title change and the obvious contender rising.

I imagine this match is going to kill some momentum, despite the starpower involved. Expect some chinlocks and maybe a leg to be worked over.

Segment – HOF Induction

(Editor’s note: hopefully it will be a smidge shorter than this.)

Match #8 – AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura

Styles Nakamura WM

The match we’re all excited for, the match that should headline Wrestlemania this year. Let’s hope it lives up to the hype.

Match #9 – Sheamus & Cesaro vs. Braun Strowman & Alexa Bliss

An unfortunate cool-down match.

So my prediction here is that Alexa Bliss will team with Braun for his tag title match. Even though it’s not WWE’s style to subtly break gender boundaries, this would be an interesting twist on the whole Mixed Match Challenge gimmick and have it make a little more sense in the grand scheme of things.

Plus, it would keep Alexa from looking too damaged after being squashed by Nia an hour prior.

Segment/Match #10 – The Undertaker confronts John Cena

You know what, I don’t see this match happening.

I think it’s going to be a glorified segment where Undertaker formally announces his retirement. Strange guess, but if it were to be an official match then I feel like it would have been confirmed by now.

I’ve loved the build so far. I’m hoping the pay-off is worth it.

Match #11 – Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar

Roman Reigns vs. Lesnar

I mean, of course it’s going to close the show. Roman’s third crowning moment is going to be the lasting memory of Wrestlemania 34. I’m totally cool with this, because hell if this match isn’t going to be awesome.

Expect blood, expect stiff shots, expect a worthy main event.
