Considering the fact that she’s long been seen as one of DC’s main pillars, Wonder Woman hasn’t really been given a chance to shine in a big, marque game. That’s about to change thanks to Monolith Productions and Warner Bros., who announced Wonder Woman at The Game Awards 2021. Check out the trailer below.
While the trailer itself is thin on information, the press release afterwards revealed more details about the game. Wonder Woman is an open world adventure where players will attempt to unite both the Amazonian world and humanity, as various threats conspire to take down Diana of Themyscira.
Perhaps the most interesting reveal from the press release is that Wonder Woman will utilise Monolith’s Nemesis system, last seen in the Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War games. The Nemesis system allowed the game to create memorable, persistent enemies, which made everyone’s individual playthrough more unique. It’ll be intriguing to see how that’s applied to a Wonder Woman game.
David Hewitt, Vice President and Studio Head for Monolith Productions, said in a press release: “At Monolith Productions, we believe in the power of player-driven storytelling to unite people. The stories our players share inspire us every day, and we are honored to take players on a unique personal journey, driven by the values embodied in Wonder Woman. The Nemesis System raised the bar for player-driven storytelling and we’re excited to push the open-world genre forward, combining cutting-edge action with inventive narratives to create a Wonder Woman game everyone will want to play.”
No release date or platforms have been announced yet, but this could be one to watch for any superhero fan.
