Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus Released Today For PS4, Xbox One, and PC

New Colossus

It’s finally time to make like Aldo Raine and claim some Gnatzi scalps: Wolfenstein: The New Colossus is out today for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

The Nazi-killing simulator, which had recently been involved in some controversy about its lack of love for Nazis despite the series always letting you kill them by the heil-load, is the follow-up to the surprisingly successful The New Order and its standalone expansion, The Old Blood.

A frenetic, mercilessly violent FPS, The New Colossus sees series protagonist BJ once again picking up the Nazi-killing mantle, starting off with a sequence in a wheelchair that many early players have praised. From there, it seems like The New Colossus gets madder and madder.

New Colossus

Judging from the look and feel of the preview materials released to date, it’s a far zanier game than previous Wolfenstein entries; quite the challenge when you previously had robot dogs and seemingly sadomasochistic old ladies as villains.

Critical reception hasn’t been warm since the embargo lifted – it’s been boiling. It currently sits at an 89 on Metacritic with high scores from Polygon, Dualshockers, USGamer and more. The lowest score it’s received so far is an eight.
