Is Wild Hearts Coming To PS4 and Xbox One?

Wild Hearts

Wild Hearts is EA’s approach to a hunting game with a twist. Set in a mysterious land inspired by feudal Japan, Wild Hearts will launch on February 17, 2023 with a free preview available for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and EA Play subscribers launching early, on February 13, 2023. Wielding an ancient technology, players will be tasked with hunting down giant Kemono – beasts that roam the world with the ability to manipulate the environment to their advantage. Crafting and building their way through these missions, the hunters will also be able to turn the tides in their favour with the fascinating  Karakuri ability, being able to craft things like spring platforms and swinging vines at the drop of a hat. With such a unique game on the horizon, many fans have been left wondering whether Wild Hearts will be available on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One?

The answer is no, Wild Hearts is not coming to PS4 or Xbox One, and will only be available for PS5, Xbox Series X & S and PC at launch.

From the initial announcement back in September 2022, EA announced that it would be partnering with Koei Tecmo, known for the Dynasty Warriors and Attack on Titan games series amongst others, to prove an all new “AAA experience” based in fantasy feudal Japan. At this time, it wasn’t yet clear which platforms the game would be released on, but since the announcement EA has confirmed that PS5, Xbox Series X & S and Windows will be the only platforms Wild Hearts will be playable on.

About Wild Hearts

Wild Hearts

Wild Hearts is the upcoming action-RPG from Koei Tecmo’s Omega Force in partnership with EA under its EA Originals label. Players are tasked with hunting down giant beasts called Kemono in the fantasy world of Azuma. The nameless hunter embarks on quests to hunt the Kemono and whilst Azuma isn’t quite an open world, it has several large areas that players can freely explore which leaves it feeling almost open.

In addition to eight interesting weapon types, players also wield the powerful technology of Karakuri to build items to assist them in combat such as crates to leap from or spring pads to launch off. As the game progresses, these smaller craftable items can be combined to create huge barriers to block in the Kemono. The Karakuri can also function to assist travel, with players able to build giant zipwires. Progressing throughout the game sees more craftable Karakuri unlocked as well as new weapons and armor. The estimated gameplay time is around 30 hours which makes the 10-hour free preview a good third of the game.

There will be more than 20 Kemono to fight through at launch and EA has announced that new monsters will be added as free post-launch updates, but that there are “no plans” to release DLC as yet. Post-campaign there are two different categories of monsters, “volatile” Kemono and another one which the developers are currently keeping a secret.

Wild Hearts Release Date

Wild Hearts will be released on February 17, 2023 with a “free” preview launching on February 13 exclusively for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and EA Play members. The game will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X & S and Windows platforms, with the PC version being available via the EA App, Steam, Epic Game Store and Origin. Wild Hearts will not be supported on the Steam Deck at launch, although it’s unclear whether this means it won’t be verified or won’t work at all.
