Former WWE Divas Champion and inspiration for blockbuster film Fighting with My Family Paige is still under contract with WWE, despite not being featured since before the pandemic. With so many releases taking place in the name of budget cuts, it’s hard to understand why Paige has kept her contract for so long when she hasn’t even contributed to WWE programming since retiring in 2018.
According to reports from Wrestling Observer News, Paige remains under contract due to her value as an established star. Due to the sheer amount of fans she has through her Twitch streaming channel as well as her links to Hollywood, it seems that WWE are wanting to keep her tucked away for when the right idea comes up.
Furthermore, Dave Meltzer commented that due to the nature of her retirement in 2018, if WWE were to let her go then there could be some hard feelings leading to bad press.
Although with so many formerly retired wrestlers making in-ring comebacks to great amounts of success, who knows what the future has in store for Paige.
