Who Else Could Join The Hurt Business?

They're in business.

It can be argued that nobody has had a 2020 as successful as MVP. The former United States Champion made his surprising return to WWE during the 2020 Men’s Royal Rumble match. Despite being quickly eliminated by Brock Lesnar, many fans were happy to see a brief cameo by Montel Vontavious Porter.

24 hours later, MVP was defeated by Rey Mysterio on Monday Night RAW. MVP would state on social media that this was likely his last WWE match of his career. Subsequently, the Ballin’ Superstar was then offered a producer role backstage and also made occasional on-camera appearances, hosting segments such as the V.I.P Lounge.

Once WWE was forced to move to the WWE Performance Center due to the worldwide pandemic, MVP’s role in WWE was changed back to an in-ring performer. This has led to MVP becoming the business manager of the likes of Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin, while also becoming the self-appointed WWE United States Champion himself. During this period of time, MVP has even introduced the first redesign of the WWE United States Championship in 13 years.

With Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin by his side, MVP has named the trio “The Hurt Business”. But, there is always room for growth and expansion. MVP hasn’t been shy about offering his business and managerial services to other superstars on the WWE roster.

Therefore, who else could soon join the ranks of The Hurt Business?

5. Ron Simmons

Ron Simmons is an icon and a trailblazer in the professional wrestling industry. The WWE Hall of Famer was the first black man to ever hold the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, when he won the gold in 1992. He is therefore recognised by WWE as the first black World Champion in professional wrestling history.

During his WWE career, Ron Simmons was also the leader of the faction known as The Nation of Domination.
The Nation of Domination consisted of members such as D’Lo Brown, The Rock, Mark Henry, Ahmed Johnson and Kama Mustafa. All Superstars which were under the tutorship of Ron Simmons as the group ran roughshod over WWE.

Therefore, Ron Simmons has experience when it comes to the formation and success of major and dominant factions within WWE. Ron Simmons was even seen backstage talking to both MVP and Bobby Lashley this past week on Raw.

Many have drawn parallels between The Nation of Domination and The Hurt Business. In fact, it has been reported that WWE may be looking to position The Hurt Business as a modern day incarnation of The Nation of Domination. What better addition to the ranks of MVP, Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin than the WWE Hall of Famer himself?

4. Byron Saxton

Byron Saxton largely cuts a happy-go-lucky figure when on commentary every Monday Night on Raw. A perennial “good guy”, a heel turn by Byron Saxton would certainly get a lot of people talking in the WWE Universe.
What people often forget is that Byron Saxton was previously an in-ring performer in WWE. Saxton appeared frequently during the 3rd and 4th seasons of WWE NXT, being mentored by Chris Masters and Yoshi Tatsu.
Now, while Byron Saxton has since transitioned onto the commentary table, this does not mean that Saxton couldn’t be a useful addition to The Hurt Business.

Throughout history, we have seen members of a dominant faction have a “mouthpiece” in the broadcast booth. Eric Bischoff was a member of the nWo while still performing commentary duties in WCW, this was also seen with Taz being a spokesperson for the Aces & Eights during his time for IMPACT Wrestling. Could Byron Saxton do the same with The Hurt Business on Monday Night Raw in WWE?

An evil version of Byron Saxton would be entertaining on commentary while also ensuring that The Hurt Business get their message across to the masses every single week in the commentary booth.

3. Jey Uso

Jey Uso, along with his brother Jimmy, are 6-time WWE Tag Team Champions and one of the best tag teams in WWE right now. The twin brothers were on a roll when they returned to Smackdown in January of 2020 after a 6 month lay off.

Unfortunately, Jimmy Uso recently suffered a debilitating knee injury when competing in the triple-threat ladder match at WrestleMania for the Smackdown Tag Team Championships in April. This injury is speculated to leave Jimmy Uso out of action for 6-9 months.

This injury to Jimmy Uso leaves his brother Jay in the wilderness. Traditionally, if one Uso twin is injured, the other brother remains off WWE television also. However, many fans think that this is a waste for someone with the talent levels of Jey Uso.

While his brother is out with an injury, could Jey Uso move to Monday Night Raw and join the ranks of The Hurt Business? Not only would this give Jey Uso something to do while his brother is on the shelf, but it would also provide Jey Uso with the opportunity to show what he is capable of in a singles role in WWE.

2. The Street Profits

The Street Profits have been one of the most entertaining acts in WWE since they made their Monday Night Raw debut in 2019. The former NXT Tag Team Champions regularly have the WWE Universe laughing during their backstage skits and segments. But the success wouldn’t stop there for Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins.

The Street Profits won the Raw Tag Team Championships in March of 2020 and have since gone on to become the longest reigning Raw Tag Team Champions in WWE history since the titles were introduced in 2016. This success has caught the eye of MVP. Referring to Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford as “clowns” for their humorous antics, MVP has previously offered his services to the Raw Tag Team Champions.

While The Street Profits have turned MVP down in the past, perhaps as The Hurt Business continues to grow and be successful, The Street Profits’ heads may finally be turned to join the ranks of MVP, Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin and future members.

1. Naomi

Naomi deserves better. Social media has been very vocal recently that the former Smackdown Women’s Champion should be more involved in storylines and prominently featured on WWE television. Given that the Smackdown and Raw Women’s Championship pictures, along with the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship picture, are currently occupied by Bayley and Sasha Banks, perhaps The Hurt Business could offer Naomi the platform she deserves?

Having a female competitor would add an element of diversity to the group led by MVP and allow The Hurt Business to reach all aspects of the Monday Night Raw broadcast. MVP is currently the “self-appointed” United States Champion, Shelton Benjamin is the new WWE 24/7 Champion, so having Naomi as a member of The Hurt Business would allow for the faction to go after championships currently out of their reach in a totally different division.

In addition to the WWE Universe stating that “Naomi deserves better”, maybe Naomi herself decides that ‘she deserves better’ and joins the ranks of The Hurt Business on Raw. With the likes of MVP and others in her corner, Naomi could finally get the opportunities that the WWE Universe are desperate to see her receive.
