Finding where to watch Fringe doesn’t quite require the same level of complex detective work that’s actually involved in J.J. Abrams’ cult sci-fi hit.

Like much of Abrams’ work, Fringe rode the line between being idiosyncratic and esoteric while never becoming so impenetrable as to be inaccessible to the mainstream. Like Felicity, Alias and Lost before it, Fringe blended high-concept sci-fi concepts with popcorn drama and recognisable TV tropes, carefully constructed but always imbued with a supernatural spice.

Airing from 2008 to 2013 on the Fox Network, Fringe took the crime procedural format and expanded it to incorporate a range of science fiction, pseudo-mythological and fantasy elements. The show centers on the FBI’s fictional ‘Fringe’ division based in a lab at Harvard University charged with investigating cases relating to so-called ‘fringe science’ – sci-fi goings-on that can’t be explained by typical means.

Initially debuting to mixed reviews, Fringe built on the foundation it had established with its so-so first season to garner significant acclaim as time wore on. Concluding in 2013 with Season 5, Abrams, Kurtzman and Orci’s supernatural creation has gained a substantial cult following in the fifteen or so years since it first debuted. Thanks to that cult following, many fans and newbies will be wondering where to watch Fringe both in the UK and in the United States.
