WarTales tasks the player with leading a mercenary company to fame and glory, essentially by simply playing the game. However, these categories or paths serve a more concrete role of guiding the company towards particular walks of life or types of action, as well as bestowing campaign benefits.
Here are all the paths toward fame in WarTales:
– Power and Might
– Trade and Wealth
– Crime and Chaos
– Mysteries and Wisdom
And here’s everything you need to know about WarTales’ paths of fame.
Power and Might
The Power and Might path directly relates to the company’s prowess in combat, tactical feats, and generally helping out communities by completing tasks and missions. For players who want to make a name for themselves through fighting and building a company of renown through strength, this is the route to pursue.
The mercenary party will earn additional achievement titles for completing specific challenges, such as defeating a number of champions, crafting weapons and armor, or performing a variety of combat actions. In the current build, players will increase their Valor Point pool by one once they reach the second level of renown in the Power and Might path. A larger pool of Valor Points will let companions perform special class-specific actions for often.
Trade and Wealth
This path is nearest and dearest to the life of a mercenary. Earning money is the name of the game when progressing in the Trade and Wealth path and this can be done by earning money through contract missions or simply by selling items, weapons, and miscellaneous objects.
This path is for players who fancy themselves as collectors and those who cannot resist the shiny trinkets and baubles found in post-battle loot. Crafting high-quality items and selling them on the market is also a viable way to gain renown and fame in the Trade and Wealth path. Reaching level two of fame will grant the ability to negotiate prices and rewards for accepting missions from recruiters.
Crime and Chaos
Nobody said that mercenaries have to be altruistic and noble. For players looking to take the road to banditry, the Crime and Chaos route will be right up their alley. Of the four currently available paths, this one is the most challenging as players will gain fame by fighting on the side of bands of outlaws, ambusing trade caravans, stealing property, and generally being a terror to the law-abiding citizen.
Though it may be difficult to go down the path of a raider due to the lack of upfront benefits, it can certainly yield unique rewards. For example, reaching the second level of fame in this path will unlock special assassination missions in the list of contracts, which can add another stream of income. Stealing items can also give the party items they might not normally be able to get or that may be too expensive, but this will annoy shop owners and the general public, so this path is not for the faint of heart.
Mysteries and Wisdom
The final path of fame, Mysteries and Wisdom, concerns the exploration of the world and the learning of professions and skills. As the company moves about the map, the player will inevitably run into new locations, like villages, farms, towers, and caves that may have their own secrets and special features that can lead to further exploratory expeditions.
Where the other three paths offer relatively simple achievement titles to earn by completing easy actions, titles in the Mysteries and Wisdom path have more stages to them and will require a greater amount of care and attention to finding loot, such as treasure maps, secret codices, and artifacts. Reaching the second level of this path will unlock a unique crafting item, the Lectern, which will unlock a new profession for the company to master.
All mercenaries want is recognition for their deeds to leave them famous, or infamous in some cases. Equipped with the knowledge of how to build the company’s renown, how will you make a mark in WarTales’ world?
