After weeks of speculation and, well, it pretty much being an open secret actually, Warhorse Studios have today confirmed that they are indeed working on an open world Lord of the Rings game.
Oh, and not only that, but they’re working on a new Kingdom Come game, too.
You might have heard the rumours, it’s time to reveal what we are working on.

A huge announcement for sure, but I wouldn’t expect to hear anything else from this project for a long time. It would’ve been a pretty big reveal for Summer Games Fest, but considering that they’re announcing it kind of low-key right now, they probably don’t quite have enough to show.
Getting their hands on an IP of this size is really quite a significant moment for Warhorse, especially considering they turned to crowdfunding for the first Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Apart from BioWare maybe 20 years ago, I couldn’t think of a better fit to finally deliver a Lord of the Rings game that will be at least half as good as Return of the King on the GBA.
