They’ve left it late in the day for this generation, but Sega and Platinum have finally introduced Vanquish to a new audience with its port to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which is out now (February 18th).

A third-person shooter with a unique sliding mechanic and the madness that PlatinumGames are known for, this is your chance to try a slice of gaming history alongside Bayonetta to celebrate both games’s tenth birthdays.

Vanquish Synopsis

“Vanquish combines precise shooting and fast-paced combat action in dazzling new ways.”

Vanquish Reviews

There aren’t many individual reviews for Vanquish on PS4 and Xbox One as it’s mainly been picked up as a bundle, but the PS3 version of Vanquish sits on an 84 on Metacritic while the Xbox 360 version also has an 84.

Will There Ever Be A Vanquish 2?

As the original game was also a little of a slow burner in terms of sales, Platinum have never announced plans to make a sequel to Vanquish. However, in early 2018, rumours swirled that a sequel would be coming to Xbox, though nothing has been revealed.

For our money, we don’t expect there to ever, unfortunately, be a sequel to Vanquish. Platinum are a studio in high demand and it’s a risk to release a sequel to a cult favourite, so we wouldn’t hold our breath. We’d obviously love to see it?

Will Vanquish Come To Switch?

It’s really odd that it didn’t come to Switch along with these new PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions, in truth. Bayonetta was ported to Switch long before PS4 and Xbox One, so it is strange that Vanquish isn’t yet following suit.

Nintendo and Platinum have a great relationship with Bayonetta 3 and Astral Chain being developed exclusively for the console, so you can never say never.

From our Bayonetta and Vanquish review:

“The Bayonetta & Vanquish 10th Anniversary Bundle combines two utterly fantastic games into one affordable package. If you haven’t played either game, this is your chance to fix that.”
