Vampyr’s New Gameplay Trailer Shows How You Become The Monster

VAMPYR GAMEPLAY

Vampyr, the ambitious new game from Life Is Strange developers Dontnod, has just had a gameplay trailer released which focuses on the protagonist’s turn to the dark side.

You can approach Vampyr however you like: if you don’t want to feed on the civilians of London, you don’t have to. But can you resist the new powers that come from feeding on those you were sworn to protect? Is the sacrifice of the few worth it for the lives of the many?

In an interesting twist, Vampyr will allow you, Dr. Jonathan Reid, to weigh up who is deserving to die by following them through their everyday lives. Or, if that’s not your thing, you can always just feed without a second thought.

Feeding on civilians can have lasting effects on the ecosystem of London: if someone important dies or too many people in a district “bite” it, it could all come crashing down. You’re going to have to think long and hard in Vampyr before your sink your teeth into someone.

The gameplay trailer actually only really shows a few glimpses of Reid in action. It looks okay so far, though it looks a little bit like it’s lacking a touch of polish in terms of animation. Also of note is that different enemies have different levels, so the game might be a lot harder for you if you don’t embrace the dark side.

Answer some of Vampyr’s many questions when it launches on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on June 5th.
