After its debut in 2021, fans have been patiently waiting for Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy- (otherwise known as just Tsukimichi) to get a second season. Makoto’s unusual journey in the Goddess’ World is a refreshing take on the isekai genre. Isekai protagonists are always set up to be awesome heroes or destined to defeat powerful demons, but not Tsukimichi’s. Makoto’s more passive role in the fantasy world is exactly the twist the genre needed.

When is Tsukimichi: Season 2 coming out, and how will Makoto’s actions further impact the Goddess’ World? Here’s all the news you need to know.

When Is Tsukimichi: Season 2 Being Released?

Unfortunately, an official date for Tsukimichi: Season 2 hasn’t been announced yet. You can’t really base it on the previous season’s production time frame, either. Season 1 was released a year after it was announced, but Tsukimichi: Season 2 was announced in late 2021, and it’s already 2023. Another sign that Season 2 is still a long way off is that all they’ve shown is a 16-second teaser.

Fans speculate that the show might come out in late 2023 to early 2024, but stay tuned for official updates and announcements.

What Is Tsukimichi: Season 2 About?

The main source material is the light novels. However, there are currently no official English translations of the Tsukimichi light novels. The manga and web novel adaptations do have translations, and they’re how fans can predict the plot for Tsukimichi: Season 2.

Season 1 of the anime ended around chapters 56-58 of the manga; rearranged events make it hard to pinpoint exactly which chapter it ended on. The proceeding chapters will feature Makoto continuing to develop the community he created. Now that he has a shop, he can officially start his career as a merchant.

Makoto will also be working as a teacher in the academy, training students to become top-level mages.

Season 2 is also most likely where the other two heroes sent by the Goddess will finally get a proper introduction. Tomoki Iwahashi and Hibiki Otonashi were seen briefly in a flashback in Episode 12. They were introduced way sooner in the manga, but those events weren’t included in the anime.

You should note that the manga and web novels are actually slightly different. So whether the anime will follow one or the other, only time will tell.

Which Studio Is Making Tsukimichi: Season 2?

Although confirmed, the production details of Tsukimichi: Season 2 are being kept under wraps for now. Almost a dozen companies co-produced Season 1, but there’s no telling if all of them are working on Season 2. Mainichi Broadcasting System, Nippon Television Network, Tokyo MX, Medicos Entertainment, Nichion, A-Sketch, DMM pictures, BS NTV, AQUA ARIS, NetEase, and AlphaPolis all had a hand in co-producing Season 1, while C2C was the studio in charge of animation.

Where To Watch Tsukimichi

Tsukimichi: Season 1 is currently available on Crunchyroll and Bilibili, depending on your region. Another option for Asian viewers is the Ani-One Asia YouTube Channel which is legally allowed to distribute anime, including Tsukimichi.

It’s unconfirmed yet, but whenever Tsukimichi: Season 2 drops, these services are the most likely to get it.
