Top Director Leaves CD Projekt Red

An investigation on office bullying has cause a high-ranking employee to step away.

Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, the director behind CD Projekt Red‘s massively popular The Witcher 3, has left the Polish games company amidst allegations of workplace bullying, allegations which Tomaszkiewicz denies.

According to a report by Bloomberg, CD Projekt has been conducting an internal investigation over the past few months into allegations of ‘mobbing,’ which the report defines as “a Polish term for office bullying.”

While Tomaszkiewicz stated in an email to company employees that this investigation had formally found him not guilty, he would still be exiting his position. “Nonetheless, a lot of people are feeling fear, stress or discomfort when working with me,” the email reads, in which Tomaszkiewicz apologizes “for all the bad blood I have caused.”

Who Is Konrad Tomaszkiewicz?

Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, worked as director on CD Projekt’s most successful and critically acclaimed game in recent memory, The Witcher 3, the third in the video game adaptations of Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski’s fantasy novels. The success of the novels and the games saw the creation of Netflix live-action television series.

Tomaszkiewicz was also listed as second director and head of production in the credits of last year’s Cyberpunk 2077.

The director’s exit from CD Projekt is the latest in a long string of turbulent events for the company, following the problematic launch of Cyberpunk 2077 which was full of performance issues so pervasive that Sony removed the game from the Playstation Store.

Tomaszkiewicz was believed to be in a leadership role on a future installment in the Witcher game series, but due to his removal it seems likely that any existing Witcher projects will see some sort of delay.
