Tokyo Game Show 2020 Cancelled, Digital Event To Be Held

I'm sure you can guess the reason why.

It’s been announced that Tokyo Game Show 2020’s physical event has been cancelled, and you’ve probably guessed why already. In a press release issued today, the organisers announced that due to the evolving COVID-19 pandemic leaving the world in a state of unpredictability, they couldn’t hold TGS 2020 in physical form. The Twitter user @Wario64 captured the English press release below.

Originally scheduled to take place from September 24th to the 27th at the Makuhari Messe, the organisers have now announced they will be moving the event to a digital platform. The online exhibition will take place over the same dates, but no other information has been announced just yet. The press release above states that we should begin to hear more news from late May onwards.

It’s hardly surprising that TGS 2020 has been moved to a digital-only event, as other mass gatherings and gaming events have been given the same treatment over the past few months. Fingers crossed we’ll be past the worst of COVID-19 by the time TGS 2020 rolls around.
