Some bad news hit our screens as part of last night’s AEW Dynamite, when Tony Schiavone interviewed a tearful Thunder Rosa backstage, where she revealed that she has had to relinquish the AEW Women’s Championship due to injury.
Thunder Rosa, who has been champion since defeating Britt Baker earlier this year, confirmed that an interim Women’s champion will be crowned at All Out as part of a Fatal-4-way between the aforementioned DMD, Jamie Hayter, Toni Storm and Hikaru Shida. This is bound to be one heck of a title match.
Some rumours have surfaced as to whether this injury is a work by AEW, but it has since been confirmed that the injury is legitimate and Thunder Rosa will be out of action for the foreseeable future.
It’s a shame that this is the second AEW champion that’s had to relinquish their belt due to injury this year alone. However, as we have recently seen with the interim title feud between CM Punk and Jon Moxley, the champion will have her chance to return when healthy to claim back her title.
