THQ Nordic Buy Timesplitters and Second Sight Licenses

THQ Nordic have announced that they have acquired the licenses for Timesplitters and Second Sight, two proprties from Free Radical Design who are now known as Deep Silver Dambuster, a current member of the THQ Nordic Group.

Timesplitters was (and could soon again be) a FPS multiplayer game laced with a dumb but fun sense of humour spanning many different time periods. Known for being a multiplayer game perfect for a few beers and bags of Doritos, Timesplitters was last seen with Future Perfect back in 2005. A fourth game never got off the ground properly with Free Radical going into administration.

Second Sight, meanwhile, released during the same timeframe as Psi-Ops, which created a mini-rivalry. Both games were action games with psychic powers, though Second Sight favoured stealth and story over Psi-Ops’ constant head-popping and marionetting.

While it may appear that this mean that another Timesplitters game is on the way, THQ Nordic, wholly owned by Koch Media, are known primarily for releasing remasters of dormant properties. If buying three games that defined my childhood all over again paves the way for a fourth game, I may just have to buy it on every platform.
