It’s been teased pretty heavily, but today it has been confirmed that The Witcher’s Geralt of Rivia, gaming’s most favourite catman, will be coming to Soulcalibur 6: the latest installment in the long-running and beloved fighting game series.
It represents the first time Geralt has been featured in a game outside of the Witcher universe, but he shouldn’t feel too out of place — Kaer Morhen will also be a playable stage.
We are excited to announce that Geralt of Rivia will be joining the playable characters roster of Bandai Namco’s @soulcalibur VI, with Kaer Morhen as a new stage!
SOULCALIBUR VI will launch this year on PS4, Xbox One and PC via Steam. https://t.co/wpMpcvycjm

This is the perfect fit, definitely more so than the Smash rumours. Geralt is a master swordsman, so it makes total sense for him to jump over to a fighting game full of blades. He is also used to beating weirdos like Voldo, so he should be right in his element.
The Soulcalibur series has prior for featuring guest appearances, most infamously Yoda, who was utterly impossible to land a high hit on. Other crossovers have been pretty neat, too, and included the likes of Darth Vader, Link, Ezio, and, erm, Spawn.
While this dashes the hopes of a sequel to The Witcher 3, all signs point towards that being very unlikely to ever happen. CD Projekt Red are currently hard at work on Cyberpunk 2077 and keeping Gwent, the popular CCG spin-off set in The Witcher universe, updated.
Soulcalibur 6 is due out sometime in 2018 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
