Ray tracing and faster load times sound great to me.

CD Projekt Red have announced that, alongside a next-gen upgrade for the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077, the developers are working on a next-gen upgrade for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt that’ll be available as a free update to current owners of the game on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The news was announced via the tweet below.

The upgraded PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game will feature a range of visual and technical improvements, including the likes of ray tracing and faster load times, across the base game and all available expansions, making it definitive version of The Witcher 3 available. Again, it’ll be free for all current owners of The Witcher 3, but there will also be a standalone version of the game available specifically for next-gen.

CD Projekt Red are yet to announce a release date for this upgraded version of The Witcher 3, but then again, Sony and Microsoft are yet to announced a launch date for the PS5 and Xbox Series X respectively, so maybe take it up with them first. CD Projekt Red’s lead PR manager Radek Grabowski has tweeted to say that it’ll be launching in 2021, but no news beyond that. Either way, fingers crossed we’ll find out soon enough.
